Overview

Arm and vest system designed for use with stabilizers such as the Glidecam HD-4000. Transfers weight from the operator’s arms to the torso for longer operating time. The spring-loaded arm absorbs vertical movement during walking, reducing bounce and helping maintain a stable horizon. Articulated joints allow for controlled boom movement and smoother starts/stops. The vest is adjustable at the chest, waist, and shoulders for proper fit and load distribution. Rigid mounting point connects the arm to the body, keeping the stabilizer isolated from operator movement. Required for extended Steadicam-style operation with heavier builds.

Torso load transfer

  • Fit and snug the vest before attaching the loaded stabilizer; the socket block should sit firmly without restricting breathing.
  • Adjust spring tension to the finished camera and sled weight so the arm floats near the middle of its travel.
  • Practise starts, stops, stairs, and doorway clearance with a spotter before the first take.
  • Detach the sled before loosening the vest, then account for the arm post, pins, and adjustment hardware at wrap.
