Overview
The RØDE VXLR+ is an active TRS (3.5mm) female to XLR male adapter that converts 12–48V phantom power down to ~3–5V plug-in power, allowing electret microphones to run directly from professional XLR inputs. It enables proper interfacing of mics such as on-camera shotguns or lavaliers that require plug-in power with field recorders, mixers, or camera XLR inputs. The unit outputs a balanced signal for improved noise rejection over longer cable runs and features a locking 3.5mm input for secure connection. Designed specifically for mic-level sources, it is not intended for line-level signals or devices with their own power supply.
Phantom-to-plug-in power
Converts 12-48 V phantom to 3-5 V for small mics
3.5 mm TRS to XLR
Connects compatible lavs and camera mics to pro inputs
Balanced XLR output
Improves noise rejection on longer downstream runs
Locking 3.5 mm socket
Secures threaded RODE microphone connectors

- Not intended for
- Line-level devices or incompatible TRRS microphones
- Use the VXLR+ only with a microphone designed for 3-5 V plug-in power; it is not a line-level adapter.
- Enable phantom power at the recorder only after the 3.5 mm microphone and VXLR+ are fully connected.
- Tighten a compatible locking 3.5 mm plug gently, then strain-relieve the microphone cable near the adapter.
- Record a monitored test for level and noise; connector adaptation does not correct an incompatible TRRS wiring scheme.
