Overview
The ARRI 5" scrim kit is designed for output control in smaller Fresnel fixtures with a 5" accessory slot, such as 300W–650W tungsten units. Each scrim is constructed from heat-resistant wire mesh within a rigid steel frame, reducing light intensity without affecting color temperature or beam quality. The kit includes a full double scrim (~1 stop reduction), a half double scrim (~1 stop on half the beam), and a half single scrim (~½ stop on half the beam), allowing for both overall exposure reduction and selective beam shaping. Half scrims are commonly used to balance uneven lighting across a subject or compensate for falloff without repositioning the fixture. All scrims feature standard tabs for safe handling and insertion into the fixture’s front accessory holder during operation.

- Confirm the fixture has a 5 in accessory slot before bringing the scrim near a hot lamphead.
- Insert the scrim with its tab accessible and close the accessory-retaining latch so it cannot fall.
- Place a half scrim on the brighter side of the beam to balance falloff without moving the fixture.
- Use gloves for removal, inspect mesh for bends or tears, and let every scrim cool flat before returning it to the case.
